Core Web Vitals are Google's three metrics for real-world page experience: loading (LCP), responsiveness (INP) and visual stability (CLS). They matter because Google's ranking systems use them, and slow, jumpy pages lose visitors before they ever read your offer.

What do Core Web Vitals measure, and what are the thresholds?
A page passes when it meets all three "good" targets at the 75th percentile of page loads: LCP within 2.5 seconds, INP of 200 milliseconds or less, and CLS of 0.1 or less.
INP replaced First Input Delay (FID) as a Core Web Vital in 2024. Measuring at the 75th percentile, split by mobile and desktop, means most of your real visitors, not only those on fast connections, must get a good experience.

Is Core Web Vitals a ranking factor? How it affects SEO
Yes. Google states that Core Web Vitals are used by its ranking systems, as part of a wider set of page experience signals.
Google also says there is no single page experience signal, and good scores in a report do not guarantee top rankings. Relevance and helpful content come first; Core Web Vitals help separate pages that are otherwise close, and they affect what visitors do once they land. A product page that shifts as a banner loads gets mis-tapped and abandoned whatever its ranking.
How to check Core Web Vitals, with an example
