WEBSITE TRAFFIC CHECKER

Website traffic checker: is their search traffic growing, or yours?

A website traffic checker estimates how many visits a site gets. Digimetrics Search Trends checks the search traffic of any domain: monthly organic and paid numbers against last month, an organic traffic chart over the period you pick, the new keywords won each month and a month-by-month table. One check takes 10 to 50 seconds.

HOW IT WORKS

How to check website traffic in three steps

  1. 1

    Enter any domain

Yours or a competitor's. Pick the market you care about.

  2. 2

Choose how far back to look

One year is a good default: long enough to see seasons and the effect of any redesign.

  3. 3

Read the trend, then the table

Start with the monthly tiles and chart, then use the position changes to see which new keywords drove the movement.

Takes 10 to 50 seconds. Included on every plan.

How do I check website traffic for any site?

For a site you own, use your analytics. For any other site, use a traffic checker that estimates search traffic from rankings, like Search Trends.

There are two honest answers, and they measure different things. Your own site: Google Analytics counts every real visit. Connect Google Analytics (GA4) to Digimetrics once, read-only, and see sessions, engagement and conversions by channel at no extra cost.

Someone else's site: nobody outside the company can see their analytics, so every competitor traffic checker estimates. Search Trends estimates the organic and paid search traffic of any domain from where it ranks, and shows how that has moved month by month. That is the part of their traffic you can compete for with SEO.

Organic traffic checker: what the numbers mean

Organic traffic is the visits a site earns from unpaid search results. Search Trends shows it as monthly tiles, a chart over time and a table, with paid search numbers beside it.

Read the report in this order. The monthly tiles tell you whether this month beat last month. The organic chart shows the shape: steady growth, a seasonal wave or a cliff. Position changes show the new keywords won each month, which is usually the reason behind any rise. The monthly table puts every month side by side for a report.

In the official tutorial's sample (fictional brand Brightpath), organic visits rose by about a quarter in under a year. The position changes showed which new keywords carried that growth, which is far more useful than the total on its own.

A rival whose organic chart is climbing fast is publishing or earning links. Run Keyword Strategy Builder on their domain to see which topics.

Why is my website traffic dropping?

Most drops come from one of four causes: lost rankings, a seasonal dip, a technical problem after a change, or fewer clicks because the search page changed. The shape of the chart usually tells you which.

A sudden cliff after a redesign or migration points to a technical cause: broken redirects, pages blocked from Google, missing titles. A slow slide points to rivals overtaking you. A dip that repeats each year is seasonal. If your website traffic dropped suddenly, run Search Trends on your own domain and on your top rival: if they dipped too, it is the market; if only you did, it is you.

To find the exact cause, run SEO Diagnostics, which reads your rankings, who ranks above you and a technical audit together. Our guide to why a website is not ranking walks through each cause.

Is website traffic a KPI, and how much traffic is good?

Traffic is a useful KPI only next to conversions. There is no universal good number: good is traffic from searches that match what you sell, growing month on month.

A plumber with a few hundred visits from "emergency plumber" searches in their town may earn more than a blog with a hundred times the visits. Track organic search traffic together with sign-ups or sales, which GA4 shows by channel. Use Search Trends to judge your trend against rivals in the same market, not against a national average.

Best website traffic checker for a small business, and what to run next

Pick the one that shows the trend and the reason behind it, at a price that suits occasional checks. Search Trends returns a check in 10 to 50 seconds, and your first ones are covered by the free trial.

Big suites like Semrush and Ahrefs offer traffic estimates inside large subscriptions built for specialists. If you need to check a handful of rivals a month, a lighter plan is simpler: Starter is $31 a month billed annually with every tool included. See our Similarweb alternative page for a side-by-side view.

After a traffic check, these tools explain the numbers:

Frequently asked questions

Still unsure? Email support@digimetrics.ai and a person will reply.

What is the best website traffic checker in 2026?

For your own site, Google Analytics, because it counts real visits. For any other site, a tool that shows the search traffic trend and the keywords behind it. Search Trends does that for any domain in 10 to 50 seconds.

Can I check website traffic for free?

New Digimetrics accounts get every tool free for 7 days with no card, which covers several Search Trends checks. Connecting your own Google Analytics or Search Console is always free and read-only.

How do I see a competitor's website traffic?

Enter their domain in Search Trends and pick a market and time range. You get their monthly organic and paid search numbers, a traffic chart and the new keywords they won each month.

How accurate are website traffic checkers?

Any tool checking a site you do not own is estimating. Use the estimates to compare trends and rivals rather than as exact visit counts, and use your own analytics for your own numbers.

Does Search Trends show all traffic or just search?

Just search: organic and paid. It does not include direct, social or email visits, which only the site's own analytics can see.

What is website traffic analysis?

It is reading where visits come from, how they change over time and why. For search traffic, that means pairing the trend with the keywords gained or lost each month.
