The short answer
- Search Console is Google's free record of how your site appears in Google Search: impressions, clicks, CTR and position.
- Digimetrics reads that data once you connect Google and turns it into a short story of what changed.
- Reading your own Search Console data doesn't cost anything extra on any plan, including the free trial.
- Each report ends with suggested actions, such as a page close to page one that is worth improving.

What is Google Search Console used for?
Google Search Console is a free Google service that shows how your site performs in Google Search and flags indexing and other issues. Its Performance report covers clicks, impressions, CTR and average position.
Google's own help pages describe four core metrics. Clicks are visits from a Google result to your site. Impressions are how often your site appeared. CTR is clicks divided by impressions. Average position is where your topmost result sat. The default view covers the past three months.
The data is excellent; the problem is reading it. The standard Google Search Console performance report gives you a chart and a long table, and leaves you to work out which rows matter. The Digimetrics connection does that first pass for you and writes it up.
Is Google Search Console free? Yes. Google describes it as a free service, and reading it inside Digimetrics doesn't cost anything extra.
What the data tells you: the official sample
In the official tutorial's sample (fictional brand Brightpath), one search was shown 61,300 times with a 3.5% click rate, and the clicks were split across three competing pages.
That is a classic finding a raw Search Console dashboard hides. Three of your own pages compete for the same search, so Google keeps switching between them and none of them earns its full share of clicks.
The fix is to pick one page to own the search, strengthen it and link the other two to it. Keyword mapping shows which page should rank for each keyword, and On-Page Optimisation rewrites the chosen page against the top three results.
Is Google Search Console the same as Google Analytics?
No. Search Console shows what happens in Google Search before someone reaches your site; Google Analytics shows what they do after they arrive. Google recommends using the two together.
Google's guidance is that Search Console is the source of truth for Search performance and Analytics is the source of truth for on-site behaviour, and that clicks and sessions will not match exactly because they are counted differently.
In Digimetrics you can connect both with the same Google sign-in. Search Console tells you which searches found you; the Google Analytics integration tells you whether those visitors signed up or bought. Both are free and read-only to connect.
How do I combine Search Console with SEO data in one dashboard?
Connect Search Console, then run the SEO tools on the same project. Your first-party clicks sit beside crawl, ranking and AI visibility findings, so you can see cause and effect in one place.
A few combinations work especially well:
- Traffic dropped? Run SEO Diagnostics, which can take your Search Console numbers as an input and returns keyword verdicts and a plan in priority order.
- Lots of impressions, few clicks? Rewrite the title and description of the page with the lowest CTR.
- Want a live check between reports? The rank checker shows today's position for your key searches.
- Wondering about AI answers? Search Console covers Google Search; the AI mentions tracker covers ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity.
QUESTIONS PEOPLE ASK
Frequently asked questions
Still unsure? Email support@digimetrics.ai and a person will reply.
Does Google Search Console cost money?
No. Google offers Search Console as a free service. Connecting it to Digimetrics is also free: reading your own data doesn't cost anything extra.
How do I use Google Search Console without learning every report?
Connect it to Digimetrics and start from the plain-English story, which explains what changed and suggests what to do. Go into Search Console itself when you need indexing tools such as URL inspection.
What access does Digimetrics need?
You sign in with a Google account that already has access to the Search Console property. You then choose which site to read.
Can I use Search Console data for client reports?
Yes. Keep each client in their own project. On the Expert plan you can export white-label PDFs; see our guide to SEO reporting for clients.
Why do Search Console clicks not match Analytics sessions?
They are measured differently. Google notes that small differences are normal and that the trends should follow the same pattern.
